The paper is concerned with the forced vibration of a read/write head floppy disk system subjected to axial excitation. The solution is obtained by applying the modal expansion method together with the Galerkin method to the disk governing equations. Numerical results are presented for a 5.25 in. floppy disk rotating at 300 rpm. The effects of the excitation frequency and the head location on the response amplitude of disk are studied in detail.
