General formulas are developed for the prediction of the components of inertia loading acting on a solid, thin, rectangular section rotating with constant angular velocity about a center which is remote from the boundaries of the rectangle. The components of loading so determined are then used to determine the stress in a multisided member which rotates about a longitudinal axis passing through the center of the cross section. The range of application, minimum number of sides for closure (equilateral triangle) to infinite number of sides (circle), is covered by the analysis and when the number of sides approaches infinity the general equations are seen to produce solutions consistent with the standard forms for circumferential stress and radial displacement in a rotating thin circular member.
