Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to develop an algebraic frame of reference for testing under triaxial loading. In the case of moderate confining pressures, certain parameters may be assumed to remain constant, which makes it possible to describe the behavior of a test specimen in terms of relatively simple mathematical equations. In the case of higher confining pressures, the paper is limited to indicating general trends and observing that several parameters approach recognizable limiting values. In the light of these limits, it is possible to predict the behavior of materials under the combined effect of extremely high confining pressure and high temperature.
