Colorectal cancer is the third most common and fourth deadliest cancer in the world [1], with an estimated 96,000 new cases of colon cancer, 40,000 new cases of rectal cancer, and 50,000 deaths from these diseases in the U.S. alone (2014) [2]. Colonoscopy is recognized as the gold standard for detection and removal of polyps within the colon; however, the quality of the procedure relies on the skill and experience of the physician [3]. This quality can be compromised due to inexperienced physicians, as well as experienced physicians forming fatigue injuries. Shergill et al. [4] have reported that up to 60% of endoscopist have suffered from a strain injury from repetitive motions used to control a colonoscope.
