Previous researches have shown that cardiovascular and postural systems interact to maintain homeostasis [1–3]; however, cause and effect relationship between associated cardiovascular and postural variables is still unclear. Knowledge of causality between cardio-postural variables could be useful in early prevention of falls and fainting. This is particularly important in the elderly population where falls can have a significant impact on the medical system through increased incidence of head injury and bone fractures [4].

In our previous work [5], we investigated the causal relationship between the blood pressure waveform and the magnitude of the center of pressure vector (COPr), as well as between systolic blood pressure (SBP) and COPr. These data provided evidence for the existence of a bidirectional interaction between blood pressure and posture, which may be important in maintaining homeostasis.
