The theoretical results of Part 1 are extended to the study of partition functions which determine the various fractions of the total heat generation. Four major fractions are those of wheel transient, work transient, chip flux, and ambient losses. Thermal penetration of the wheel is studied in detail. Thermally optimum conditions are defined and sought. A procedure for selecting optimum downfeed rates is given.
