It was my privilege to have served as editor of the Journal since August 1991. My two terms of office are complete and I am very pleased to announce that Professor Kornel F. Ehmann from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, has assumed the editorship for the Journal effective March 1, 2002. I have known Professor Ehmann since our graduate student days at the University of Wisconsin. Professor Ehmann is not new to the manufacturing community. His accomplishments as a scholar have been recognized nationally and internationally. He has been a regular contributor to the Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering and participated heavily in ASME symposia organized by the Manufacturing Engineering Division. He has served two three-year terms as associate editor for the Journal and has maintained the high quality and reputation for the Journal.
