This paper will provide a broad overview of present and future activities important for the production of Photovoltaic modules. First, the current methods for production will be reviewed, then a study of the techniques for further development will lead to an attempt to describe the factory of the future for Photovoltaic device production. The paper will look at the issues and technologies for the conversion from high purity quartz to silicon substrates and will then analyze processes from substrates to finished solar cells, and finish by reviewing the concepts for the manufacturing of the Photovoltaic modules.
