It has been demonstrated that profiles can be found which manifest extremely favorable characteristics when used as blade elements of a given cascade formation. The method of developing such profile forms is to begin by prescribing a suitable configuration for the pressure distribution around the profile, and then to work out theoretically the profile outline that should create the predetermined pressure distribution. In pursuance of the studies described in Reports 1 [1] and 2 [2] of the present series, five newly developed profiles were selected for tests, taking due account of the experience gained with the previous experiments. One of the profiles tested proved to yield performance superior to any tried so far.
