Abstract

The concept of economic balance as related to power-plant optimization is discussed. Its application to the problem of choosing appropriate exhaust-annulus and condensing surface areas is developed in detail. These areas are related to each other for three circulating-water temperatures and several unit-cost ratios. The exhaust conditions and the rate of change of stagnation enthalpy with investment are presented as functions of these areas.
