Abstract

Using a typical fuselage fabricated from plastic plywood and veneer as an example, the author indicates the general procedure followed in building wood aircraft. Basic design problems were solved by extensive investigations and tests conducted by the National Research Council. A method is described for fabricating disposable fuel tanks for fighter planes from veneer and plywood, as representing the wide range of possiblities of wood in war and postwar industry.
