Abstract
Stainless steel will assume its position in the aircraft industry when and where the urge is strong enough to study its possibilities, to acquire its technique, and to overcome the discouragement of first efforts. The first use of stainless steel in aircraft was in England. Tons of it were used in the construction of the “R-101.” In this country a trend toward stainless steel is noted, particularly for air-transport units.
