It is my pleasure to introduce the inaugural issue of the ASME Journal of Energy Resources Technology, Part B: Subsurface Energy and Carbon Capture (Part B). As a new addition to ASME's esteemed family of publications, Part B serves as a focused platform for the latest research and technological advancements in subsurface energy and carbon capture. The mission of this journal is to advance scientific knowledge and practical applications that can support a sustainable energy future. By highlighting innovations in energy resources, particularly in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and subsurface energy technologies, we hope to foster interdisciplinary research that addresses both current and emerging challenges in sustainability.
ASME Journal of Energy Resources Technology, Part B: Subsurface Energy and Carbon Capture welcomes a wide range of submissions that contribute to the field. Topics include, but are not limited to, carbon capture and utilization, CO2 transport and geological storage, CO2-enhanced oil recovery, geothermal energy, natural gas and hydrogen storage, petroleum exploration and enhanced hydrocarbon recovery, drilling and completions, production and reservoir engineering, geomechanics, geo-energy transportation, and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics in subsurface energy. We accept original research papers, case studies, comprehensive reviews, and technical briefs that showcase theoretical breakthroughs, technological advancements, and economic evaluations. This inclusive scope is designed to support cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.
