This paper studies the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth of three northeastern provinces using ARDL model. And results show that there is a short-term and long-term unidirectional causality between economic growth and energy consumption in all three northeastern provinces; Jilin province shows the strongest correlation between energy consumption and economic growth, but its economic growth has the lowest dependence on energy consumption in all three provinces. This paper concludes that the short-term dependence on energy consumption in economic growth should not be ignored.
