Many physical dynamic systems can be represented and modeled by first-order differential equations. Two commonly encountered mechanical engineering systems modeled in this way are hydraulic tanks and pneumatic systems. In this chapter, different hydraulic tanks or liquid-level systems and pneumatic or gas systems are considered. Their corresponding transfer functions are derived.
