This chapter will cover materials, both metallic and nonmetallic, that are typically, and some not so typically, used for pipe, tubing, fittings, seals, and equipment that are used in high-purity applications such as bioprocessing. In this chapter we will identify the select few materials used for high-purity applications and touch on the reasons for their being selected for such applications.
