In this investigation, a flexible beam with rib geometry is analyzed through an integration method of localized surface geometry. The main purpose of this analysis is to verify the effect of different shapes of the rib to the properties of the flexible beam. During the modeling process, the ancf beam element is used to define the global geometry and the rib geometry can be defined on the ancf beam element through overlapping method. The Non Uniform Rational B-spline Surface (nurbs) is utilized to represent the localized surface geometry, since it can describe the curves and surfaces accurately. Subdomain integration method is employed during the integration process. When performing the analysis process, the properties of the flexible beam is analyzed with different shapes of the rib. The shape of the rib is defined by five parameters. After analysis process, the effect of the rib shape to the properties of the flexible beam can be verified through the analysis results such as node displacement, compliance and stress of different rib shapes.
