Cam mechanisms are popularly used in industry to provide simple ways to achieve different motions, especially for some unusual, irregular or difficult motions. The simple harmonic motion is widely applied in cam mechanism since the design is very simple. In this work, the cam mechanism of a simple harmonic motion is proposed for a practical case. At the very beginning, the cam profile is given to modeling the 3D cam model. Subsequently, the performances of the cam are analyzed in Pro/E and Adams, respectively. The results show the proposed cam mechanism has a good performance.
