Dynamic topology optimization of continuum structures using the hybrid cellular automata method is presented in this paper. The objective was developed by minimizing the dynamic compliance to reduce vibrations of structures. The total structural volume is taken as a constraint. The dynamic topology optimization model of continuum structures subjected to harmonic loading was established. The hybrid cellular automata method is adopted to solve the optimization problem. The proportional control law is used as a local rule to determined the local change in the design variable. The numerical examples are presented to show the feasibility of the proposed approach.
