In this section we discuss photovoltaic (PV), a technology that converts sunlight directly into electricity. PV modules convert sunlight into electricity, and other components of the system condition the power to be compatible with the electrical system of a building. PV gets its name from the process of converting light – photons – into electricity – voltage. This process is called the PV effect.
