The heat transfer literature contains many solutions for thermal spreading resistance in cylindrical co-ordinate systems for single isotropic materials, compound systems, orthotropic systems, and multilayered systems. This chapter focuses primarily on solutions for isotropic and multilayered systems with variable heat flux specified in the source region. Orthotropic systems will be dealt with in Chapter 5.
