In this chapter, we will investigate surface coating by thermal spraying of molten material on a semi-infinite solid substrate. Wire or powder flame spraying on the surface of a solid substrate is a very reliable and cost-effective process used for corrosion, erosion and wear resistance in automotive and aerospace industries and on bridges, ships and other structures. Aluminum oxide and zinc alloys are most widely used molten materials for flame spraying on iron and steel.
