We will investigate heat transfer between two semi-infinite solids when they are brought into thermal contact. One-dimensional transient conduction heat transfer in a semi-infinite solid has been solved with different boundary conditions in most heat transfer books. For example: See Ref. [10]. There is a constant surface temperature applied to X = 0 surface, see Figure 15-1, which is different than semi-infinite solid’s initial temperature. Following partial differential equation and initial and boundary conditions apply as given in Equations 15-1.
