Dr. Kollmann’s original manuscript does not have an Introduction per se; it starts with a chapter on aerothermodynamic concepts and equations underlying the design, analysis and optimization of aeroengine turbochargers. Prima facie, the coverage in that chapter should be easy going for an engineer with an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. For those who need a deeper dive into the basic theory in order to become comfortable with the rest of the chapters, there are many excellent textbooks, which can be consulted for a good understanding of the subject matter.
