Cables are generally designed to efficiently carry axial loads for cable-supported structures. Typical examples include stay cables in cable-stayed bridges, vertical hanger cables in suspension bridges, and cables in tower masts and large-span roof structures. Accurately determining cable tension force is of great importance for both construction control and overall structural condition assessment during the cable’s service life.
