This chapter considers the combustion of solid propellants in the formulation which couples together the Zeldovich–Novozhilov (ZN) theory with the description of processes occurring in a combustion chamber.
Explicit consideration of the chamber effects demonstrates a difference between acoustic and nonacoustic combustion regimes, discussed qualitatively and more precisely in Section 7.1.
