This chapter deals with some problems of nonsteady combustion in the presence of radiative energy flux (external or generated by combustion products) received by a propellant surface. In such circumstances, an additional heat source, on spatial scales of the order of the mean free path for radiation absorption, appears in the condensed phase. This additional source significantly affects the nonsteady combustion process.
