Let us list the major assumptions of the Zeldovich–Novozhilov (ZN) theory.
a) The theory is developed within the tc approximation, i.e. the relaxation times of all chemical reaction zones and heating regions in the gas are considered negligible compared to the thermal inertia of the preheat zone in the condensed phase.
