Chapter 13 Keeping Abreast of Technology: Breakthroughs and Milestones

Throughout the years, the greatest challenge to the ASME Code Committee and the many subcommittees was to keep abreast of ever-advancing technologies so that standards and specifications would reflect the current state of the art in all subject fields covered. Accomplishing this major objective required not only additional committee members from one year to the next, but also the inclusion of specialists who were fully experienced in new fields of research and development pertinent to the subject areas covered by the Code.
