Reservoir management of hydrocarbon resources and increased production are among the key challenges facing the hydrocarbon production industry sector. These invariably necessitate the use of water and/or gas injection to maintain or increase reservoir pressure in response to a decline in natural lift and to enhance recovery as well as emission control, to minimise the impact on the environment. Water injection in particular is increasingly used for this purpose.
