Identifying the materials in any system to be laid up is key to developing a suitable lay-up procedure. The reader should be aware that some materials used in the various components of steam plant equipment are not compatible with some chemicals that may be considered for the lay-up procedure. For example, high concentrations of ammonia can cause problems with copper alloys. The following procedures must be modified accordingly.
