The following is a list of items which generally need to be addressed when preparing to lay-up a unit or system;

  1. Safety — of personnel and property

  2. Systems and/or equipment to lay-up

  3. Condition of unit(s)

  4. Estimated period of lay-up and work to be performed

  5. The lay-up environment such as possibility of freezing

  6. Estimated time available to start up unit

  7. Availability of manpower to inspect and monitor unit(s) during lay-up

  8. Value of unit and possible financial consequences of lay-up procedure selected

  9. Compatibility between lay-up and operational chemical treatments

  10. Disposal of lay-up solutions

  11. System auxiliaries such as fuel additive feed systems, soot blowers etc.
