In this chapter, some basic dynamic-type SN ratios for continuous variables are introduced. As described before, the equation to be used will differ from case to case. The selection of the right case for a study is based on engineering objectives and viewpoints. It is important for an engineer to understand the function of a product or process and his or her objectives for the study. Once a proper SN ratio is selected, the calculations can be made by using the equations in this chapter or by inputting data to the software. In order to simplify the explanations, only one control factor and, usually, only one level of the factor are used in the examples.
