This design example is presented to show the methods employed and the factors considered to establish the level of prestress for a prestressed concrete containment. Calculations are also given which are performed to assure that structural integrity is maintained. It must be pointed out that this example does not analyze all possible material properties, or all load combinations and locations in the structure which must be investigated. Calculations here are samples only and individual containments should be thoroughly checked by the designer.
