To measure time, quite a variety of water clocks have been designed and used by humans for more than 6000 years. In this chapter we will analyze two water clock designs that have water flowing out of a drain hole at the bottom center of a vessel. In the first case, a circular vessel’s radius will vary linearly with respect to time. In the second case, the vessel radius will be constant (i.e. a cylindrical vessel).
