With the emergence of faster processors and the evolution of better software, it is possible to utilize the computer's strength of rapid, linear computation on the task of building a numerical model that requires only a small amount of time and is capable of replicating experimental results from friction stir welding (FSW). Even with these improvements a simulation still requires extensive amounts of time to run till completion. Due to the FSW machineries are being developed in India, the FSW process can be simulated through finite element software's available. The objective of this research is to develop a finite element simulation with improved capability to predict temperature evolution in 304L steel and compared with the experimental results of Zhu et al.
