We often encounter the problem of rating individuals, animals, places, things, or abstract ideas. Very often ratings are given by experts in the field and they are subjective. This paper introduces a simple and practical method known as synthetic rating in which the experts' subjective evaluations are built into a mathematical model. A concrete application involving the rating of individual talent based on an expert's rating of a sample group is presented here.
