44 Communication Network Design with Network Reliability and QoS Improvement by Hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm

In this paper, we propose a hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) for the communication network design. The purpose is to improve Quality of Service (QoS) and provide network reliability. We formulate the problem with minimizing a communication cost as a kind of performance measures for communication network's QoS, at the same time, we also considering the network reliability. We investigate the different encoding, crossover and mutation operators on the performance of EAs to communication network problems. Based on the performance analysis of these encoding methods in EAs, we improve a new hybrid EA approach, in which initialization depends on an underlying random spanning-tree algorithm. Numerical experiments with various scales of communication network problems show the effectiveness and the efficiency of our approach by comparing with the recent researches.
