The aim of this paper is the study of dynamic performance of packed bed using spherical capsules containing n-tetradecane during discharging process. According to the energy balance between the capsules and coolant, a dynamic discharging processes model of packed bed using cool storage capsules is established. The discharging process of packed bed is simulated using numerical method. The temperature of PCM and HTF, melting fraction and cool thermal energy releasing rate are illustrated. It is discussed that the inlet temperature, flow rate of coolant and porosity of packed bed have an influence on the melting and discharging time during the discharging process.
