A solid particle solar receiver (SPSR) is a direct absorption central receiver that can provide a solar interface with thermal storage for thermochemical hydrogen production processes requiring heat input at temperatures over 1000 °C. The thermal behaviors of solid particles in an SPSR have been investigated. The SPSR is mounted on the solar tower in a wind field. Therefore the performance of the SPSR is studied considering the influence of different wind speed and attacking directions. The wind effect and the protection of an aerowindow at the aperture have been considered in the study on the thermal behaviors of the solid particles inside the SPSR.
