The main objective of liquid pipeline operations is to transport liquid petroleum products from the producers to the customers. In order to achieve this objective, energyis added to the products to increase the pressure at the pump stations for offsetting the pressure loss in the pipeline. In addition, measurements of pressure and flow are required for facility control and custody transfer. There are other tasks required to operate pipeline systems.
