The features are extracted from vehicle type by using wavelet and Hough transform. First the edge detection is done to obtain the binary chart of vehicle outline by using wavelet transform, which is advantageous according to the modulus of the wavelet transform that is independent of the scale of the transform, and then the wheel (elliptic) parameters are calculated to get some key features of vehicle image such as number of axles, wheel base and suspended long etc by using improved Hough transform. Experiment results indicate that this method has good classification performance.
