The 21st century sees a very rapid development of China's electric powers. China plans to build “three longitudinal lines, three latitudinal lines and one circular line” by 2020. However, little attention has been paid to how the transmission lines are compatible with the landscape; the study on optimization of forms of transmission towers is also ignored. This paper utilizes a computerized graphic simulation method, with the help of the theory of color psychology and color geography, to study the color optimization of transmission towers from the perspectives of landforms, climate and culture. It combines engineering technology and findings of color research, and offers reference to the designs of the future high-voltage electricity transmission tower projects. Therefore the findings of this paper will have engineering applicability and an innovative value on the future study.
