12 Calculation of VFTOs Caused by Multi-Reignitions of Disconnector

Very fast transient overvoltage (VFTO) may cause damage to the insulation of electric equipments in gas insulated substations. It is generated by multi-reignitions between the contacts of disconnector, when the disconnector is closing or opening. So it is important to calculate the VFTOs caused by multi-reignitions of disconnector. In this paper, it is pointed out that there is a linear relationship between the VFTOs originated by the previous multi-reignitions when the disconnector is closing or the last multi-reignitions when the disconnector is opening.
