The discussion in this chapter is targeted specifically towards the objective of this project that focuses on the design rules for only the primary stresses in a straight pipe component for Class 2 and Class 3 piping subjected to pressure, deadweight and earthquake loads. Furthermore, the following discussion is focused on cold pipe with no consideration for high temperature related cases.
