The identification of space-borne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) work mode is analyzed in the paper. Constrain of PRF design for space-borne SAR is analyzed. In the space-borne SAR system, the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) design is affected largely by the swath width, incidence angle, and altitude. Thus, these main factors that affect PRF design are presented and analyzed. Then, interception of pulse repetition interval (PRI) using digital threshold method is discussed. According to the principle of space-borne SAR design, PRI is an important parameter for space-borne SAR work mode. The characteristics of PRI for three mainly space-borne SAR mode is detailed analyzed, and histograms of PRI are used in determining the work mode of space-borne SAR. Finally, the computer simulation shows the validity of the analysis.
