Fairing B-spline surface is regarded as one major precondition for surface reconstruction. To obtain a good surface approximation, a novel method is proposed in this paper. The knots of the B-spline surface are treated as variables, and are optimized by the estimation of distribution algorithm. The initial knots are decided by the parameterization of the measured data points. The experiment results show that this method can obtain more precise surface approximate.
