In this study, the formation of TiC nanopowder was investigated from titanium and graphite starting materials during mechanical milling. The evolutions in phase transformation, grain size, microstrain, morphology of powders and particles size distribution during milling were examined using different analyses including XRD analysis, SEM, TEM, Zeta sizer and BET. TiC was obtained after a short milling. Longer milling times resulted in a decrease of TiC particle sizes toward nanosize scale.
