220 Modeling and Simulation of Cutting Temperature Field with Serrated Chip

A finite element model is established to investigate the distribution mechanism of serrated chip temperature field in High Speed Cutting (HSC). Zerilli-Armstrong plasticity model and Cockcroft-Latham crack model are adopted as workpiece material model and failure criteria respectively. Zorev model automatically identifying sliding region and sticking region is used to define the interaction between tool rake face and serrated chip. Material cutting process is simulated using the established model, and the temperature distribution is analyzed, then the distribution mechanism of serrated chip temperature field is discussed.
