This paper presents comprehensive relationships between the propulsion motor output and vehicle dynamics of series hybrid electric vehicle (SHEV). Analytic models are derived to describe transmission torque delivered from the electrical motor to mechanical drive wheels of a vehicle. Based on the developed mathematical models, mechanical vehicle dynamics are quantitatively correlated with the electrical outputs of the propulsion motor. Results obtained from analytic models are verified with those from simulation models developed with MATLAB platforms. Finally, the analyzing results of SHEV dynamics for variation of the motor output are discussed with mathematical equations in several dynamic conditions.
